Vérité for Responsible Sourcing Tool

New Site Amplifies Message and Streamlines Use

Web Development / Website Design

Verité is an independent, non-profit, civil society organization (CSO) that provides the knowledge and tools to eliminate the most serious labor and human rights abuses in global supply chains. Since 1995, the organization has partnered with hundreds of corporations, governments, and CSOs to illuminate labor rights violations and remedy them to the benefit of workers and companies alike.

The Challenge

Verité, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, needed an updated digital presence for the Responsible Sourcing Tool. The existing site didn’t offer an intuitive user experience and was difficult to update with necessary content in the backend.

The Solution

We got right to work building a new site where users could easily find important supply chain information, identify the potential of forced labor, and prevent those issues through establishment of policies/standards.

Website Strategy and Discovery

Our first endeavor was to understand the website architecture and its functions, as well as the current content. We then gathered information and user feedback regarding the website, as well as requirements for new functionality. Based on this information, we created a high-level strategy for a website redesign and restructuring.

User Journey Definition and Wireframe Development

Using the strategy recommendations, we outlined the site information architecture and content flow. We also built wireframes for key landing pages that outlined critical on-page content. This visual representation for the new site helped focus on user experience and ensures that site visitors users from all over the world have clear user journeys, allowing them to access the information they need as quickly as possible.

Design

The client was adamant about the need to revamp their visual representation, so we upped their game from a design standpoint. Critical to the site is the content itself, so the design is respectful of that, providing plenty of whitespace while relying on powerful header images on each of the pages to tell the story. One key component was integrating the new site with a key tool to display an interactive map used to identify documented risks in child and/or forced labor.

Open communication and collaboration

Throughout the Responsible Sourcing Tool project, we made sure the client understood the process and our recommendations, and that our solutions were in alignment with their objectives. Open communication and collaboration helped us cross the finish line with a product that fully met expectations.

Results

The new site delivers speed improvements, and enhanced user experience by providing content and information with fewer clicks. It also effectively positions the tool as a reliable resource with updated content for global companies and individuals looking for information on human trafficking, and helps build a reputation as a resource for others to link to and reference.
