3 Media Web Celebrates 15 Years

Marc Avila

Happy birthday to us! This month, we’re celebrating 15 years of building beautiful websites for our clients, and we’re looking forward to many more. We’ve seen a lot of growth and changes over the past 15 years, and there’s plenty to be excited about in the future as we continue to grow and offer more services to our clients.

How the Web Development Industry Has Changed

A lot has changed since we opened our doors in 2001. Major technological advances and a greater understanding of web design have brought richer possibilities to the world of web design, and we’ve kept up the whole way. As web tools have become more powerful, we’ve seen a lot of emphasis on using frameworks and reducing redundancy. We’ve also seen a much bigger emphasis on user experience, information architecture, building for SEO, accessibility and calls to action. Plus, web developers have adopted CSS (separating the style definitions from the content) and HTML5 (which added more multimedia support). Another big change since 2001: No. More. Flash.

Mobile design is much bigger now than it was even five years ago, of course. It’s brought a greater awareness of the importance of responsive web design and has inspired us to stay on the forefront of responsive design best practices.

Internally, we’ve narrowed our focus on our core services over the past few years. We started out as a catch-all web development agency where we took on a wide variety of projects. Now we pick and choose the projects we work on, specializing on custom web design projects using custom development in WordPress. Because of our narrowed focus, we now collaborate with trusted partners to help our clients meet their goals.

We’ve worked with clients of all sizes (small-to-medium sized companies and national, multi-billion dollar companies). Our work for clients has taken us into all sorts of industries, including software, biotech, law, pharma, manufacturing, technology, startups and education. We’ve grown our client base over the years and as a result, we’ve expanded our team. We were just honored with three IMA awards, which recognize high standards in web design. We couldn’t be prouder.

What’s Next for 3 Media Web

With 15 years under our belts, we’re looking ahead at sustainable, healthy growth. This year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be merging with Ladybugz Interactive, a Boston-area agency we’ve partnered with in recent years. Ladybugz Interactive focuses on online marketing. Together, we’ll become a full-service agency for small and enterprise clients in New England and worldwide, with a team of 17 employees. As a result of the merger, we’ve opened a larger office in Hudson, an up-and-coming town in central Massachusetts.

We couldn’t have done it all without our talented team. Everyone has pitched in and helped us take on the ever-expanding responsibilities of a growing business. We have created a collaborative work atmosphere for our globally diverse team through the use of cloud-based technology and best-in-class web services. We find ways to come together in group chat rooms, monthly Google Hangouts, project management software and daily catch-ups.

Thanks to all our clients, partners and supporters for helping us get to 15! We’re excited to see what the future holds for 3 Media Web.
